Pitchfork : Jane Birkin Announces Serge Gainsbourg Tribute at Carnegie Hall

Earlier this year, Serge Gainsbourg’s widow and collaborator Jane Birkin released Birkin/Gainsbourg: Le Symphonique, a collection of symphonic arrangements of some of Gainsbourg’s iconic works. Now, it’s been announced that Birkin will take the stage at Carnegie Hall in New York City with the Wordless Music Orchestra on February 1 to perform songs off the album and more.

With songs that have been recorded by an impressive range of artists from George Jones, Skeeter Davis and Roy Orbison to the Raiders, Jefferson Airplane and Kanye West, writer and artist John D. Loudermilk was one of the most diverse and prolific tunesmiths of the 20th century. The author of such iconic hits as “Tobacco Road,” “Indian Reservation,” “Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye” and “Abilene,” was the subject of a stellar tribute concert in March 2016 at the Franklin Theatre south of Nashville.

Das 115-jährige Bestehen des Waldhotels „Tannenhäuschen“ wurde am Wochenende gebührend gefeiert. Den Auftakt machte Gregor Meyle (siehe rechts), das Sommerfest startete Samstag. Live mit dabei die Rockschule Hamminkeln mit einem ihrer bekannten Sofa-Konzerte. Auch die Weseler Band „Meine Zeit“ gab ihre Visitenkarte ab. Mit im Gepäck hatten sie ihre neue Single „Feuer und Meer“. Später wurde die Bühne frei für Sarah Straub und Carl Carlton.
